When your clients are ready to take that exciting next step and come out and see a new construction community in person, you want to make sure their visit is as fruitful as possible to get them the keys to their dream home that much faster.

Take this easy checklist with you as you prep each new construction client for that very first appointment:

Visiting a new Home Community Checklist

1. Create a Home Needs and Wants List

Setting aside the time to separate wants from must-haves or deal-breakers will help keep your clients’ focus on what matters most to them in a new home.

A new home needs and wants list also helps them think critically about what they actually want to look for in their next home before coming out to visit the community.

Before you ask yourself if this first step is really that necessary, read this homeowner’s advice for the best possible home building or buying experience.

2. Share M/I Homes Quick Facts With Your Clients

Even before your clients come meet with an M/I Homes New Home Consultant at a community, there are plenty of ways to educate them about what M/I Homes can uniquely provide in their new home.

Here are a few of the many benefits we can provide your customers in their new home:

  • Our Industry Experience: Since our foundation in 1976, we’ve expanded to 15 markets and have built quality new homes for over 130,000 homeowners across the country.
  • The M/I Difference: Our industry leading warranty commitment and building standards go above and beyond to provide a better-built home with better design and better customer service.
  • Our Home Design: Our floorplans are truly built with your clients’ daily living needs in mind, and we use current trends and trusted brand-name products to create the design options we offer in each market.
  • Our Commitment to Customer Care: Here, your clients can get commonly asked questions answered by what other homeowners have to say about M/I Homes’ customer service!

3. View Floorplans and Community Info Online

After your clients have their needs and wants list all set, help them spend time browsing our floorplans in the community they’re going to be visiting to make sure they have specific homes in mind to look at or talk through with the New Home Consultant.

Did you know that your clients can even take virtual tours right from the comfort of their couch? With our virtual reality headsets, touring our new homes for sale is easy and convenient.

Your clients will also enjoy the wealth of information we’ve taken the time to compile about each one of our communities, from the local schools your children will attend to getting to know your new city and neighborhood and so much more.

4. Set Up an Appointment

We’re almost there! It’s time for your clients to schedule their new community visit.

At this time, they’ll need to specify you as their real estate agent.

Once we receive their information, our Internet Sales Team will contact them to book their personal community tour!

As the excitement builds to their appointment, make sure your clients familiarize themselves with what to expect during their community visit.

5. Prepare a List of Questions to Ask

It’s time! Your clients’ new home tour day has finally arrived. There is going to be a lot to see and tons of information to take in, so take special note of these last few recommendations for the best appointment possible.

Now that your clients have familiarized themselves with available floorplans to build in the community(ies) they’re looking at, they can create a list of questions specifically geared towards the homes they’re most interested in.

In addition to sitting down with our New Home Consultant in our sales center, your homebuyers will potentially be able to take a Dusty Boots Tour. Taking the time to prepare for that in advance will help your clients know which times to ask what questions.

Design Selections

As their real estate agent, you can guide their Q&A time with a few additional new home buying question recommendations from other REALTORs®.

For your own benefit, make sure you also use the time with the New Home Consultants wisely and feel comfortable with your role moving throughout the remainder of the home buying process.

There you have it! This checklist will be the perfect resource for helping each of your new construction clients find their dream home.
