Steps for Cleaning LVP Floors

  1. Vacuum
  2. Clear movable items
  3. Prepare cleaning solution
  4. Wet mop
  5. Mop with the grain
  6. Clean baseboards by hand
  7. Allow floors to fully dry

Vacuum

First, you’ll want to vacuum the easily removable dirt and grime we all know builds up on floors.

Clear Movable Items

Next, clear any movable items off of your floor, such as rugs, dining chairs, plant pots, etc.

Prepare Cleaning Solution

Then, you’ll want to prepare your cleaning solution by following the instructions it comes with, such as mixing it with warm water. This is important, as some cleaners may leave a sticky residue if not diluted properly.

Wet Mop

Fully wet your mop in your bucket of cleaning solution, carefully getting rid of any excess water.

Mop With the Grain

Once your mop is ready, you’re ready for the most important part: how to actually mop! The key to mopping your vinyl plank floors is to move your mop in the same direction as the grain of the floor.

Carefully cover the entire surface area, moving in forwards and backwards directions.

Make sure you have good lighting while mopping so you can see all of the nooks and crannies you’ll need to cover!

Clean Baseboards by Hand

You’ll want to clean your baseboards by hand with a microfiber cloth so you can really get out those stains and dirt. For baseboards, use a combination of warm water, liquid dish soap, and vinegar.

Allow Floors to Fully Dry

Once your floors are finished being cleaned, they’ll need to dry before your friends and family walk all over them.

How Often Do You Clean LVP Flooring?

Clean your vinyl plank floors once a week or every two weeks for best durability and cleanliness.

Happy cleaning!
